Privacy Policy

ReptiTools ("we", "us", "the site") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. Our design principle is local-first: every core tool runs in your own browser, so we touch as little of your data as possible.

1. Information we collect

We do not require accounts and we do not collect names, phone numbers or ID numbers. If you email us, we receive the email address and message content you provide, and use them only to reply to and process your request.

2. Local Storage

To remember your preferences and records, the site writes the following data to your browser's Local Storage. All of it stays on your device and is never uploaded:

• Language preference (rt_lang): the interface language you chose.
• Favourites list (rt_favs): tools you starred.
• Daily use counter (rt_usage): a local count for the "free uses today" display.
• Pet records (rt_pets, shed logs, calcium logs, etc.): data you enter yourself, stored entirely on-device.
• Consent marker (rt_consent): remembers that you have seen this policy.

You can clear all of this at any time through your browser settings. The site keeps working normally; only your saved records disappear.

3. Cookies and third-party advertising (Google AdSense)

The site itself sets no tracking cookies. To keep the site free, we plan to serve advertising through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads, including:

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info/choices.

We are required to make this disclosure by Google's policies. The third-party vendors and ad networks we use, and their cookie practices, are governed by their own privacy policies.

4. GDPR rights (EU, EEA and UK visitors)

If you are in the EU, EEA or the UK: our legal basis for storing preferences locally is your consent; the legal basis for serving personalised advertising, where enabled, is your consent, which you give or withdraw through the consent banner and browser controls. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or port your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. 5. California (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident: we do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have no "sale" or "sharing" of personal information to disclose. You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request deletion, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. If we ever begin selling or sharing personal information, we will update this policy and provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism. 6. Analytics

We currently run no analytics and no third-party trackers. If we add analytics or advertising in the future, we will update this policy before doing so.

7. Children's privacy

The site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Data retention and security

Because the site stores no personal data on our servers, there is nothing to retain or secure on our side. Local Storage data remains on your device until you clear it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as features and legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision; material changes will be highlighted on this page.
